PURWAKARTA (West Jawa), Dec 8 – More Malaysian infrastructure construction companies must seize the opportunities in Indonesia by participating in highway building projects in that country.
In making the call here today, Works Minister Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor said the talents and expertise of Malaysian construction companies must be brought to Indonesia which needs private sector participation to develop infrastructure facilities.
“The advantage we have as Indonesia’s neighbour is that we understand the religion, culture and the Indonesian language. This is an advantage to Malaysian construction companies to come to Indonesia to invest and participate in the infrastructure construction projects,” he said after attending the ground-breaking ceremony for the Cikampek-Palimanan Toll Highway construction at di Cikopo here today.
The ceremony was launched by Shaziman’s Indonesian counterpart Djoko Kirmanto.
The 116Km Cikampek-Palimanan Highway, costing Rp12.5 trillion (RM4.6 billion), is the first highway construction project undertaken by a Malaysian company in Indonesia. The project concessionaire is PLUS Expressways Berhad (PLUS), a government-linked company.
